Course Description
The online course curriculum and video content features both practical and theoretical components, ensuring all skills that are relevant to the industry are covered; from the fundamentals such as flower care and selection, through to flower arranging,
design elements and principles, pricing and construction for events.
This 10 week online course has been carefully designed for those seeking a career change with
no prior experience or training in floristry.
The course content is delivered over 10 weeks and is completely self-paced. The content is available for students to view and refer back to as often and for as long as you wish.
FLORISTRY DESIGNS
A wide variety of commercial floristry designs including:

DIGITAL PORTFOLIO
Get noticed with a digital portfolio.
We will cover how to submit and present your portfolio to potential clients and / or prospective employers.

Understand the creative brief and client requirements. The essential elements of event floristry, including:

BOTANICALS - COMMERCIAL VARIETIES
Learn different commercially grown varieties of both flowers and foliages. Learn availability, seasonality, care and substitutions for each botanical variety.

Frequently Asked Questions
IS THE COURSE CERTIFIED?
No the Career Change Course is not government certified, we are a private College and are not a nationally recognised training provider. Which means we are not funded by the government nor do we follow the national training package.
Being a fully funded private College allows us flexibility to include the most up to date industry skills and knowledge.
The floristry industry is not a regulated industry. Therefore, anyone wanting to start a career or business in floristry does not require any specific qualifications. We have designed the career change course with specific skills and knowledge relevant to enable graduates to meet the demands of the industry for today and into the future. Our delivery of content and course design utilises our extensive knowledge as Florists, floristry business owners and our previous experience teaching floristry in TAFE institutions.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO I GAIN?
After successful completion you will be a Bloom College Career Change Course Graduate Florist. You will be prepared to either work within a floristry business or commence your own business*.
HOW LONG WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO THE COURSE CONTENT?
The course content is made available to you each week for 10 weeks. However, you will not lose access to the content after 10 weeks. You can go back and revisit it at anytime. If you do not have time within the 10 weeks to complete the content, it is not an issue, it is essentially ' go at your own pace'.
WHAT DO POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS IN THE INDUSTRY LOOK FOR?
Business owners within the industry will look for different aspects in graduates based on their needs and personal preferences. We find that a thorough portfolio will put you in a good position.
ARE THERE ASSESSMENTS?
There are no formal assessments, but your portfolio is a major project which must be completed to a minimum standard and viewed by our teachers in order to graduate and receive a certificate.
